COMMAND...
This word often promotes fear in the one who hears it used. Most often of those who are not yet aware of God. I hear the word used as a means to convince people that they are 'sinners'. 'Have you ever broken one of the ten commandments, well then you are a sinner and deserve to receive punishment', they say. This of course leads to the idea of eternal torment to those who do not somehow find the power to save themselves by making the choice to trust God. 'You better do it today because you don't know what tomorrow will bring', they say. I will agree that a command that is broken is often visited by correction, but this common message is shallow and misses the mark in a destructive way. It causes fear and confusion and ultimately blindness. Does this sound like the love of God?
Let's allow our mind and capacity to receive this word as it may be opened by God. A stronger vue of this word may actually promote peace rather than fear in the ears of those who hear. After all, isn't the yoke of his word easy and light, rather than fearful and dreadful? Isn't a command brought to us in love, rather than vengeance? It is my conviction that God will not command us to do something we are not capable of doing. Most do not realize this.
The word command in its original language means an 'injunction', which if you aren't aware of that word as I was at first, it means to 'enjoin' or 'impose'. It means to 'force something into place'. We can see how this was played out in the old testament writings. A commandment was given to do this or that, and if it was not followed, very often death or severe punishment was given as a discipline. From this vue, we have learned to fear commandments. We do not experience that type of punishment so quickly or noticeably these days, so our fear is less than those of the ancient days, I would imagine. God outwardly forced a way to be followed and instructed the ancient men to follow it. It was given for his ultimate purpose of helping them, but as they were not able to be helped, God took action on each. We know that as we sow error, we reap correction these days, as it was, but most do not give much attention to this thought. I can imagine, by the incomplete vue of this world, many believers and unbelievers alike have no idea what to think about the word command. They care little about commands as they do consequences. This brings me sorrow.
Injunction or enjoin or impose are the meanings of the original word that we call 'command', however, that original word is actually derived from another Greek compound word meaning 'in' and 'goal'. This brings light upon this word 'command'. What was actually being imposed or enjoined among humanity? What was being forced upon mankind that they needed to follow and obey at such a strict measure? What was the reason for these commands?
Simply put, it was, is and will continue to be the 'goal' of God to save all of humanity. I know this comment will spark a debate, so be it. This goal was given to mankind in the ancient days, but they were not capable of receiving it inwardly, so God declared it outwardly. This goal is given to mankind today inwardly as they are able to receive it and we are led to our attention from outwards. There was a switch if you notice. God imposed the goal of saving mankind within man. God is directing mankind into a rescued condition. The power of this goal is love, which outlasts all things, and the power of that goal is now within man. Love is the greatest force of all and God is love. The goal is restoration of all that corrupts and all that dies and all that has been lost because of the darkness and blindness of heart that mankind has endured. In the context of this restoration, God opens the mind and heart of man and imposes love by enjoining himself upon humanity. Are you beginning to see these words as they actually are? Enjoin, impose, force something into place, goal, in. These words are all descriptive of a process that is happening right now. It is a goal in the works of becoming complete, mature and lacking nothing. It is a goal in the works of becoming conformed to the image of his dear son.
The command that God imposes upon us is an instructive love shared by love itself. Love places itself within a creature that hates love, hates itself and hates the rest of creation by nature. Love and light force itself into darkness. Patience imposes upon impatience. Faith enjoins itself into fear. Heaven impresses upon Earth. Do you follow? To command, by way of God, is not just a rule to follow. It is the goal itself being translated into the one receiving. It is the 'completion' or 'perfection' or 'end goal' of the purpose and plan of God being inserted into our lives in order to rescue and redeem and restore and resurrect (stand back up again).
Look within to your struggles and addictions and untamed desires and aimless emotions and imaginations. You know well how powerful they are, for they remain with you most of your days. I know that mine did for so long. Are you able to drum up enough power and wisdom and faith and discipline to overcome them? I doubt it! For this reason, God must be forceful and engaging. He must impress upon us, enjoin himself within and imposes his very nature within our hearts and minds. That is the only way that we can overcome. It must be by the force of love. The command of love.
Men lay commands upon other men in an attempt to help them, but that attempt is futile and in vain. Man cannot place God within man. Only God can impose God upon man. To those who oppose God or those who are adverse to God, the commands are grevious and hard and unwanted because they do not have the capacity to receive them or follow them. They are not wired to produce faith. They mock the commands of God as they wander about in error. As they miss the mark, and their appetites are destroying them among this world, the commands of God are their enemy. To instruct an alcoholic to put down his drink, as the desire within him roars with such force to take another drink, those instructions are as vinegar on the teeth. To sing a song of love to the one who desires to murder men with their thoughts, that song becomes an agitator. To command a child to be quiet as his heart desires to yell, that command becomes like an impossibility to that child. In truth, his opposing desire becomes a trigger to yell louder. We know well that this is the nature of mankind as they move through this realm without awareness of the purpose and plan and love of God.
Yet, to those who love God and desire only what the father desires, the commands are easy and light. They do not need to hear the instructions to be kind to their angry neighbor, because the mind of God within them is already at work. They do not need to be reminded of the command because the goal is already implanted within them. The command becomes a part of their new wiring. They are a new creature in the making and the commands become a part of their thinking and speaking and acting. As these commands impose themselves upon the heart and mind of the new man, that new man is not in need of new commands. Once love forces itself into a created being, love becomes the guide and governor and authoritative energy that moves that new creature. A new command I give to you, that you love one another and love God. Nothing else is required and no other command is needed.
I am watching this principle take place within my dog Noah. At first, he was without awareness of my goal. My goal was to have a dog that remained safe and continued living. In order to help bring this goal to a fulfillment, I commanded Noah not to enter into the street. This goal was for the sole purpose that I did not want the dog to get hit by a car or to disrupt the peace of someone passing by in the street. Noah, at first, was not aware of my goal and needed to be rewired. I began to train him by setting boundaries and limits to his ability to enter into the street. I basically spanked his rear and gave him a stern 'NO' to his face as I looked into his eyes with love. My goal was in place and my commands or instructions were given outwardly through my hands and my voice. Through precept upon precept, line upon line, moment upon moment, experience upon experience, as I continued commanding and instructing and discipling Noah, he began to see my goal more clearly. He doesn't know that he will get hit by a car, but he is very aware of my goal, which is not to enter the street. As time passes, he rarely enters into the street and I have no need to say a word to him. My goal is becoming imposed within him and he no longer needs my outward command. My command has become enjoined within his thinking and his routine. My goal is becoming alive within him and this is keeping him safe from the cars. There is no need for an outward command as it is forming inwardly. Do you follow?
Yes, as a command is not followed, correction and discipline comes. You may say punishment or vengeance or wrath, but I say correction and discipline because in this world we know that motive behind those two are purposed and typically out of a desire to see one succeed with love. Correction and discipline are ofter used to motivated on to right ways (righteousness). A child who rebels and touches the hot stove will receive correction by the burn of his finger. It is hard to call that wrath or vengeance or punishment. I believe that these all are all driven by the same motive, but I choose to use the words that appear to have more of a planned purpose and reason. A man who walks in impatience will endure discipline and suffer correction as he is learning to have patience purged from his deceitful and misled heart. It is the desire of God that the man will learn of his ways and allow the commandment of love to force its way into the wicked heart. When that man walks with God, who is love, that man will no longer feel compelled to walk in impatience, but rather patience will become his guide. He will no longer need to endure the suffering of discipline as the command becomes a fountain within him. Do you follow?
This new command I 'give' to you, that you love one another. As I have loved you, so you are to love one another. By following this command or loving one another, mankind will know that you are learning from me', says Yeshua. Isn't love easy and light? Yes it is if you have that command imposed within your heart and mind. But for those who do not, love seems an impossible chore to follow. It is a task often forgotten to follow. Yeshua didn't just verbally 'give' the command as his father gave commands to the men of ancient days written on tablets of stone. No, the living son of God 'gave' himself into mankind (as spirit) as the fulfillment of the goal which is love. He 'gave' himself, the fulfillment of love, into the tablets of the heart. He 'gave' as you and I would give something to one another. His giving wasn't a speech like we like to give these days, it was a actually giving. A new command I 'give'. I am giving the goal of love and restoration and redemption and resurrection into you. Not just words, but I am giving the goal itself into you. You now obtain the goal. I am giving the command itself into you. I am imparting life itself into you. This giving and imparting of life is the giving of God himself. The fulfillment of the goal is presently and continuously among and in and upon mankind.
Give us your command God and cause us to become the fulfillment of your command as we tread upon this created earth. You demonstrated your fulfilled command within the man of Yeshua as an example of our forerunner and the head as we are the body. Command us God. Impose and force your love into our wicked hearts and minds that we may be rescued in our due time. Your commands are easy and light as you give yourself into us. May we no longer need to hear them outwardly as the energy of your divine love overflows like a foundation of water, springing up from among the deepest recesses or our hearts.
May we not fear the commandment of God as most do, but walk in it as it is in us. His commands are goals among us that we are directed inwardly to follow. We follow that goal into maturity and perfection. Love is perfect and God has given his ways into us that we become vessels of love and vessels of his Christ and body of his salvation for all of humanity..
Command me from the inside God. May I be changed and corrected and completed by your command of love. I will gladly accept your love as you force upon my heart and mind.
