FORGIVE...
A question that many people may be asking in the hidden place of their heart is ‘Can or does God forgive all of my sins?'
The word ‘forgive’ in its original language, means to ‘send forth’ or ‘release’ or ‘separate’. When I think of the word ‘forgive’ and use it in messages, I prefer the word ‘release’.
It is a simple word: If I were to put on a coat, subjecting it to my body, and then take it off (separate it from my body), it would be proper to say ‘I forgave my body of the coat’.
It is true that we are all, at one point, under the power of wrong ways (sin). Some believe that we choose to be under that power, but I do not believe that. Rather, I believe that mankind is subjected or placed under it by God, leaving God as the only one that is able and willing to perfectly release us from its power. The latter part of Romans eight makes this clear to me. The vue we have concerning this, will determine our clarity of the word ‘forgive’ and God’s ability and willingness to perform this for our sakes.
Consider a man who is going to prison. The judge is the only one that will subject him to prison and the judge is the only one that will release him from prison. The prisoner can neither subject himself nor release himself from prison. To forgive (release) is the counterpart of being subjected to something. They complete and fulfill each other and they are both under the authority of the same one.
Under this power of wrong, we are subjected to think, speak and act wrongly. The pressure is a part of the process towards perfection. It is the power and strength of this wrong pressing against us that moves us. Pressure moves all things in nature. Every wrong behavior constitutes a counter consequence - a law of sowing and reaping or cause and effect. We tend to forget this law in life because we don't often see the reaping and effects right away. It appears that our sowing is of none effect at times. The consequence is always to reflect to ourselves the harm of this wrong. It is to reveal to us our position within the power of wrong and awaken our attention and desires to overcome wrong ways while we are within the midst of it. If you miss this point, you will think that we are left here to ourselves suffering within wrong for no reason and with no true way through it. Yet, if you see the perfect plan of God, you will notice that the pressure is actually a tool used by God to help us become changed through its pressure. The pressure is given to us in a perfect measure according to our condition and position. God has perfect judgment and therefore we can never encounter more than we can handle. As he sees fit, God will release us from the pressure until we are due for another. He sees our response to this pressure, giving it and releasing it as is necessary for us. It is a perfect plan of progressing us towards perfection. This adversity is purposed against us for our own benefit, that we may become complete and mature and perfect - lacking nothing. Oh, by the way, adversity is the meaning of the word we call 'satan'. Thats another message to come.
Everyday we are moving among the power of wrong and this power infiltrates our thinking and speaking and actions in some measure. Yet, moment by moment, in a perfect balance, God disciplines and washes us of the filth that we heap upon ourselves within this wrong. We are not taken from the presence of this wrong, but we do overcome the power of it. Drunkenness is wrong, and it is common in the world around me, but I am not under the power of it. God has released or separated me from that power. For some, it may take one time to learn the right way and overcome the power of that wrong. Yet, for some it may take a lifetime and much harm and grief and guilt and regret and pain and suffering and discipline. Give attention not to suffer too long for wrong doing for the weight of it is heavy. Rather, be still and let God teach you through strength and wisdom to overcome those wrongs while in the midst of it. Whichever the two, God continually releases us in due time and in our own order as he sees fit. Why wouldn’t he, for we are birthed of him out of pure and perfect love.
God sees. God loves. God disciplines. God forgives.
Yes, God is able and willing to forgive all the wrongs we find ourselves covered in.
Forgive them all my friend.
