GOSPEL...
Gospel, from my vue, is another trigger word that is often associated with preconceived ideas in the thoughts of the hearers. This word falls in line with the others that I have written about thus far. When the word 'gospel' is used, it is only accepted and shared and appreciated by the religious crowd. Those who are not yet aware of God's presence among them, often have little interest in hearing this word. I don't often use this word, if at all, but on the occasions that I have in the past, I took quick notice of the response given to me by those who knew or cared little about it.
Gospel is simply 'Good news'. Many know this simple definition well but still there seems to be a preference to the word 'gospel'. I suppose it is because that is the word used in the common translation that most hold as the infallible word of God. Again, be it as it may, 'Good news' is much easier on the ears of those who have no religious background. That is the description I prefer to use.
Do I need to describe what good news means? Aren't we all continuously looking for news to come into our senses that is of good report? Good news, I passed this test. Good news, I saved money on this item. Good news, I got a raise or I'm getting married or I found what I was looking for. Good news, the dis-ease has passed. Good news. It's a boy or girl. Good news is a common expression and regardless of the language one may speak, good news is easy to understand. No matter the content, good news is what our heart desires. Does it not?
Good news was shared to us by God, the one who created and formed us. It was shared through many who walked before us. It was shared in different countries, different ways and by different people. It is being shared by you and I and will continue to be shared.
What is the good news (greatest news) that we long to hear? It is not that we have reached a zillion followers on Instagram or that we have new dog faces on Snapchap. It is not that we can take off work to stand in line for the new IPhone or that the vehicle we want is offering a huge rebate so that we can now afford it. It is not that our favorite team has won or that there are nice waves in the ocean. It is not that we have equity in our house or that we just purchased new equipment for our favorite hobby. Yes, I suppose those things are good news, but do they compare in the slightest measure to the greatest news that can turn our inner being from death to life? From confusion to clarity? From anxiousness to peace? Can those things give us understanding and wisdom of things pertaining to the root elements of life? Can they answer our questions? Can they heal the wounds of our inner being? Can they give us vision to see the way of God and give us the power to help ourselves and others out the darkness of heart and mind that continues to strike against and within us? I am sure you know the answer to these things. There is only one true good news concerning our lives.
Good news begins with a man named Yeshua (most call him Jesus). Yeshua was the visible expression and embodiment of the invisible God. The fullness of God and all the power and wisdom and knowledge of spirtual (heavenly) things existed among the man Yeshua. He was God in the flesh for mankind to see and know and witness as the perfect image of the perfect God of all. This is indeed good news for those of us who walk in darkness, blindness of heart, error, frustration, confusion, insecurity, ignorance, and having no awareness or consciousness of the existence of God, who is the one who helps us in these errors and wrong ways. This is the good news, that God entered into the realm of the physical world as you and I know it, in order to rescue us from ourselves! God came, comes and will continue to come into the flesh.
God entered into this realm through the physical body of Yeshua. This is good news to know that God enters into the bodies of mankind. If this did not happen, we would continue as sinking ships and we would continue in our dying and destructive ways. I am glad God presented himself among mankind through Yeshua. The name Yeshua means 'God rescues'. God entered into mankind to rescue us. God entered into Yeshua, to perfect and fulfill and complete him as mankind was intended to be. God used Yeshua as the forerunner and first fruit example of what happens to all of mankind in their due time and way. Yeshua was the good news that the embodiment of God happened, happens and will continue to happen. Yeshua was the evidence of this entrance into the material world by an immaterial God. This destroys the idea that God only exists in a far away heaven on the other side of the universe. No, the life of Yeshua proved that God was now among us and within us. It revealed to us that in union with him, we live and move and have our being. It was for our witnessing that God enters the flesh of mankind. The good news is that we can be delivered and kept from the darkness and blindness that has disrupted our walk. We walk in error and we walk in pride and we walk without peace and we walk alone. But the good news is that God, in his perfect awareness of our lives, made a way to rescue us from this dying process.
Yeshua is the perfect example of this living way. He embodies the life of God. He is life. He is the visible expression of the truth of our existence. He is the manifestation of perfect love, perfect gentleness, perfect mercy to mankind, perfect self control, perfect faith in hearing and following the voice of the father within him. Yeshua was the way into the presence of God. We cannot see God with our physical eyes, but we can see Yeshua who revealed or disclosed God to us. God is of the spiritual nature, and this nature filled Yeshua with the very mind and heart and understanding and wisdom of himself. As Yeshua moved among this physical realm, the dead eyes of mankind saw him moving and as they saw him, they saw God in the flesh. This is good news!
By the way, when the dead eyes of mankind see us moving, if we are not walking in error, they see us and they see God in the flesh as well. This is good news!
This happening was God reconciling the world into himself. This presence of Yeshua was the work of God to restore, renew, redeem, reconcile and resurrect (stand back up again) mankind. It was God delivering mankind from our destructive thoughts, our ruinous words and our deadly actions. We were as lost sheep having no idea how to walk in right ways (righteously). Look at the world today and tell me what do you see? You see a people who are animated and governed and ruled by a darkened mind and misled heart. You see ignorance and greed and pride ruling in the hearts of mankind. You see humanity that has no idea how to have peace, how to love, how to judge rightly, how to think true thoughts, how to meditate on virtuous ways or how to keep patience, kindness, gentleness or self control among their members. We knew not how to walk without confusion and bitterness. We were destructive and without direction or guidance or right authority. We were adverse to the way of life and a joyous heart. Constantly wicked thoughts, continuously groaning for peace, and moment by moment we were taken captive by lies, a deceitful heart, vain and horrible imaginations and erring ways. This is not good news for us to walk in this way. This is not pleasant and brings no happiness. This brings pain, continual yet fitting suffering, discomfort, disease, torment, and destruction to our self. This is adverse and opposes the right way of God. It would require good news to draw these destructive and deadly ways out of us. We indeed need good news! Can you disagree to this?
Good news is here. God came among mankind and remains and will never leave. The mind of God is among man. The ways of God is among humanity. The power and wisdom and understanding and love and life of God is closer to you and I than the air we breathe or the blood coursing through our veins. God is near. God is able. God is willing.
Be still and know that he is God. This is good news. This is great news. This is the best news. This is the gospel. as you will.
