JUDGE...
I see this word being the source of much confusion today. I contribute the confusion to the messages that people have received from different places in time.
The original Greek of this word means to ‘distinguish’ or ‘decide’. This word is neither good or bad, right or wrong. When heard, most people may receive this word in a negative way. Most commonly I hear it said ‘don’t judge me’ or ‘you shouldn’t judge this or that’. Those sayings may be helpful at times, but they do not portray a complete vue of this word.
If you were approaching a busy street that you intended to cross, you would most likely stop at the approach and pause for a moment. At that moment, you would have to ‘decide’ or ‘distinguish’ the best time to continue across the street. You would be, in truth, judging the proper time to go based on the wisdom, knowledge and vision that you had concerning crossing that street. You would be judging the speed of the cars, the distance of the street, the ability of your walk. At which time, you may either judge rightly or judge wrongly. Your judgment may be helpful or harmful in this case, as with most cases.
As you know, God is above and higher and greater than all things. Not in a physical way, but in rank, role, authority, wisdom, knowledge, etc. Like a dad would be, within a household, higher than his children. The difference between God and a dad of a household is that God is in all things. God sees, knows and has place in all things. He has full awareness. Therefore, the rank, role, authority, wisdom and such things of God are of the greatest and highest magnitude. Gods judgment is perfect and always right. There can be no higher than God, as you are well aware of.
Being in this high position, the decision and distinguishing ability is always right and perfect. Gods judgment is never wrong or slighted or without reason. If God were in a body and needed to cross the street, he would do so perfectly with perfect timing and perfect movement and perfect response to the things around him. Do you remember hearing of Yeshua, the anointed, walking among creation? He did indeed walk perfectly in the body, because God was within and among him during his visit in creation. The mind of God, within Yeshua, gave him perfect judgement. He knew how and when and why to respond to all things that he encountered in creation, because his judgment was always right. All of the perfection that God is, was within Yeshua, therefore Yeshua walked perfectly and with right judgment at all times. Do you realize this is the purpose and plan for you and I and all of mankind in their due time and order?
God gives himself to be within you and I. His very position and wisdom and knowledge and authority becomes our very nature - a new nature. Our minds become one with the same mind of Yeshua - the mind of the anointed. Our decisions and distinguishing times truly become given over to the father who is among us and within us. We are limited in a measure because of our erring bodies and the remanence of our corrupted nature, however, we are given the ability to ‘judge’ rightly in all things if we would give attention to God within us.
We are able to judge the words and actions that come upon us. We are able to judge the thoughts that creep within our minds so quickly. We are able to decide whether a thing is helpful or harmful to us. We are called to distinguish between things that are true, fair, lovely and of value and good report. We are encouraged to use our ability to judge rightly or judge in righteousness. We are to take things of the mind captive and judge them whether they ought to remain or depart. By judging and deciding upon these thoughts we are practicing our awareness of whether they come from God or the adversary of God. You may find that the things of God remain and are never in vain.
By the way, God always judges for the benefit of mankind. Not one thing that God allows upon a man is for the intention to cause him to become worse without reason, but only to pressure and prove and move him to become better. Yes, Gods judgments may come with a painful cost in order to turn us from our wrongs, but they are never intended to inflict wrongly. They are never undue or unjust or unfitting for us as they come. Knowing this, our judgment towards all of creation, if it be of the same mind of God, should reflect this good and right judgment in all things.
Judge rightly and do not judge wrongly. Judge with the anointed mind and not the limited and corrupted mind that we are familiar with, within ourselves. Judging rightly will keep us safe and in favor with God and men. Judging wrongly will often bring a consequence to teach us of our wrong. A moment to learn a lesson which may not be comfortable or preferable to us and those around us. Judging wrongly will often carry us into a place or condition or position that requires us to endure pressure for a season.
Judge this message for yourself. When you read of the word ‘judging’ in the scriptures, consider the context and keep this message in mind.
Judge with love as the motive to all things.
Judge rightly my friend.
